Barbury Castle

Square 67:
a. Barbury Castle.
b. The Ridgeway.
c. Large disc-shaped barrow, with apparently a long barrow in the centre of it, now partly cleared away. Appears to have been opened in the middle.
d. Small bowl-shaped barrow, opened at top.
e. Pits and excavations, the unmistakable relics of British dwellings.
f. Very large bowl-shaped barrow, being ploughed out.
g. Also a large bowl-shaped barrow.
h. Banks, ditches and earthworks; evident marks of former occupation.
i. Large and remarkable earthworks; very deep excavations, high banks and deep ditches, denote more than ordinary work in these parts.
k. Low flat bowl-shaped barrow, no ditch. No signs of opening.
l. Low flat bowl-shaped barrow, no ditch. Opened at top.

Square 68:
a. Large disc-shaped barrow, with apparently a long barrow in the centre, now partly cleared. High and deep bank and ditch, opened with trenches, by persons unknown.
b. Immense tumulus, presumably a barrow, bowl-shaped.
c. Small insignificant tumulus, probably a barrow.
d. Large and high bowl-shaped barrow.
e. Wide-spreading low barrow, levelled by ploughing.
f. The Ridgeway.
